Filters help you to formulate more complex search queries and to save them under a name in the repository. If needed, you can start the search using a saved filter in the mask, which will instantly produce the filtered search result.
Since searching via filters also includes the relations of a record, it is also possible, for example, to search at a contact, in a case or operation, and at a product for contacts (including teams, distributions lists, divisions), for cases (including services calls, service cases, contracts), and for products (including product classes) with which documents may be associated.
Using filters is especially useful in the following situations:
- The query should be reusable.
- The search query applies to several fields.
- The search query applies to fields that are not visible in the mask, e.g., to system fields such as the creation date or most recent date of modification.
- The query covers relations (subtab) of the current mask.
- Search entries in the Quickfinder would be complicated, as they contain many placeholder characters or operators, for example. Opposed to a Quickfinder search, you don’t need to explicitly enter placeholder characters or operators in the filter form.
- The field search entries should not be automatically linked with AND, like queries in the Quickfinder. OR linking should also be available.
- The sorting of the result set in the mask should follow certain rules.
- The use of the filter (the results) should only be permitted to selected user groups.
