Saving, copying and setting access

You can store, copy and delete filters using the standard functions for records, and the access can also be set.

How to save the filter definition in the repository

Attention

Attention: When creating and saving a reusable filter in combined forms (with sublists etc.), please pay attention to which dialog or mask area is currently active. The filter is saved for this dialog only.

  1. Assign a filter name in the filter form heading.
  2. Save the filter dates using the standard Save button at the top right.
  3. Close the filter form with OK.
  4. The system automatically adds the filter to the filter selection of the source mask. You can use it immediately.

When you save a filter, the system automatically stores the driving data class of the source mask in the definition data record of the filter. This data object determines the masks for which the filter is offered:

  • in the source mask, and
  • in every mask driven by the filter class or by one of its derivations, as well as
  • in all derivations of these masks

How to copy a filter

You can copy every filter, and modify the copy according to your needs:

  1. Choose a filter from any form and open the filter record.
  2. In the filter form, click Copy.
  3. Enter a name for the filter that corresponds to its purpose. Translate the title to the foreign language (the ensign icon in the title).
  4. Revise the filter for your purposes.
  5. Check the permissions for accessing this filter (click the lock icon in the filter form).
  6. Save the copied and modified filter.

Making filters available to other user groups

Access to the definition of a filter and the authorization to execute it can be defined in the access form that can be opened via the standard command, Access (small lock), in the button bar of the filter. There you can grant user groups read, write or delete permission for the filter definition.

Note: User groups require at least read permission for a filter to be able to use it.

Filter names don’t always have to be unique

Different users can use the same filter names. However, a user cannot be the owner of two filters with the same name in the same DTO visibility circle (superclass path + all derivations). In the filter selection, the owner's login is displayed in brackets after the filter name in the case of filter duplicates.

Interactive definition of multi-language filters

The language of a filter is not explicitly defined in a language attribute. To form the entire search condition, the language fields that match the current user data language are always used automatically. The interactive definition of a filter with search entries in other languages for multi-language fields is therefore only possible by changing the user data language. Only the filter title can contain multi-language entries without changing the language.
