Filter results list

The results list is made available from level 2 (standard users). It allows to display the search results of the filter in a dedicated configurable overview list without providing the search results in the record mask.

  • In the results list, all visible and searchable fields delivered by the data object concerned are displayed.
  • The fields of the results list to be displayed can be selected (Select fields at the top right), which makes the list more targeted and manageable, e.g., for exporting for reports.

Presentation of dynamic results lists (autofitting)

Dynamic filter results lists are automatically adjusted to the dialog width if they only have a few columns, so that the available display width is used sensibly even if there are only a few columns to be displayed. Otherwise they are not adjusted.

There is a standard width for each selected column, depending on the data type. These widths are totaled for all selected columns. If the sum is smaller than a threshold value that depends on the dialog width, the results list is fitted, i.e. the columns then adapt proportionally to the width of the list, use the entire space and make horizontal scrolling superfluous. This takes place regardless of whether the dialog was opened modally or non-modally and the width was selected automatically or configured by the user.

Nevertheless, the visibility, order and width of the columns can be modified as usual.

Note: The results list can only be customized or configured if there is write access to the filter data record (fields to be selected are saved at the filter and linked to it).

  • Select fields opens the field selection dialog, in which the fields can be found according to the user's profile (the mask corresponds in structure and functionality to the familiar sort mask of the filter form, searching for fields is supported). Double-click or use the shift function to transfer fields from the left-hand tree to the field list in a customizable order.
  • When closing the results list and saving the source filter of the list, it is saved in this filter.
Attention

Attention: In this case, the filters must be saved. Otherwise, you cannot use the results list any further.

  • Open again in the results list displays it as a non-modal dialog in the background. This allows you to output it using the report manager (standard print command), e.g., as an Excel list.

In the Desktop sidebar, you can save the results list also as a favorite (watchlist) and as a drill-down (Ad filter/drill-down context menu).

The List fields function in the filter form (available from the "Power user" level) immediately indicates if a list is present by opening the field selection list of the results list.

Note: If a results list is stored for a system filter in “Desktop”, it is displayed when you click on the filter and not the form on which the filter was created (e.g. company). If you only want the known filter result (not a results list) to appear here, remove all fields from the corresponding results list, regardless of whether it is saved at the filter.

Prefilling a filter results list

You can optionally fill an empty filter results list with the mask fields of the current form in one step. This means that you do not always have to start with an empty list and add each field individually if no filter was previously selected.

  • Click the Select fields botton in the result list to open the field selection.
  • If the list is empty, there is a Fill mask fields button in the right field, which enters all visible fields of the initial mask.
  • After the field selection is filled, the title of the button changes to Delete field list, which can be used to completely empty a filled list.

Tip: Printing an Excel list with individual data fields

If you print an overview of data records as an Excel list, you can specify the fields to be printed. This is possible with the filter results list from the filter form in which the search results (data records) of the filter are displayed in an individually configurable overview list.

  • With the help of the search or a filter, collect the records to be printed in a form or a list.
  • Now create a new filter at the form or list, save it and leave the filter form open.
  • Click the Result list button in the filter form.
  • In the top right corner of the new dialog, click Select fields to open the field selection dialog, where you can find all available fields (in accordance with your profile).
  • On the left, find the fields you want to appear in the printout. By double-clicking or using the shift function, transfer fields from the left tree to the field list on the right, where you can adjust the order.
  • When you are done, click OK. This opens a modal list, and you can check the included fields again.
  • Attention: Now please click Open again in the modal list, so that this list is displayed non-modally. You can now close the filter form.
  • Refresh the open result list (Load).
  • Select all or individual records to be displayed for printing.
  • Now use the Print command from the context menu of the list or from the command menu at the top right of the menu bar.
  • You will get an Excel sheet with the corresponding records and the defined fields you can use as needed, e.g., for printing.
Info

Admin: The variable PSC_FRM_GLB_FLT with the value NONE switches off the ability to define and open dynamic results lists. The buttons in the filter form and in the filter management are then hidden. With NONE, if favorites have already been defined (desktop sidebar), the corresponding object form with the search results is opened instead of the results list.
