Support for the tel: protocol

Since there is no desktop integration (DIM) for JustRelate CRM on Mac computers, and thus no COM interface to CTI, a solution was created to forward the call functions in the CRM at contacts using the tel: protocol to a mobile phone.

On macOS, the tel: protocol can be configured for an application (browser, Facetime). JustRelate CRM automatically detects that the OS does not have a DIM. When the call is initiated from the CRM, the phone number is passed to the internal browser that forwards the call to the iPhone's app connected to the same Apple account. The user then makes a call to the dialed number via their iPhone without having to enter it in the iPhone first.

The JustRelate CRM pocket and tablet apps use the tel: protocol by default to route calls to a mobile phone, since there is no DIM on these devices as well.

  • Enable Facetime on MacOS and iPhone
  • new variable PSA_CTI_TEL_PTL = y
  • if needed (independently of the variable), CTI configuration: option CTI = Browser
Info

Admin: The PSA_CTI_TEL_PTL variable (if no CTI interface is configured or available use the tel: protocol) must be set to y to use this feature.
If the option CTI = Browser is set in the CTI configuration, then the tel. protocol is used for the browser in the CRM regardless of the variable for telephone functions since no COM interface is addressed.
The feature requires a touch or rap client, so it can also be used in the web client if no COM interface exists or TAPI is malfunctioning.
