Document structures

Regardless of the document type, documents can be structured and the dependencies between them mapped (e.g., a 3D model and the 2D illustration derived from it).

  1. Open the record of the future master document (super document).
  2. Change to the Structure tab.
  3. Click the Select documents button.
  4. Proceed as described in Selection dialogs for relations to create relations.

If you later open a subordinate document separately (e.g. from a relationship), you will find the parent document in the Super document tab and can recapitulate all dependent documents.

Deleting subdocuments

Attention

Attention: When deleting assignments from the document structure, the system may ask whether the individual documents should be also deleted, because no more reference to the document to be deleted exists. In this case, please check whether you would like to keep the document master data records, or – if you are not sure – click No in every query. The individual documents will then be deleted from the structure, but not from the database.

With released documents, only an administrator may delete elements from the structure.

Alternatively, the owner of a document-document relation can delete it, unless one of the main documents is released and the release date (Valid from) is after the creation date of the relation to be deleted.
