Duplicate check for documents

The duplicate check serves to identify and avoid document duplicates. It works the same way as the contact duplicate check. However, neither the name nor similar visible fields are checked, but the hash value of the content, the size and the type of the document BLOB. This ensures a degree of uniqueness that that obviates the need for level settings.

Whenever a document is changed or is created, the corresponding hash value is automatically generated and saved in the document. When adding new documents using drag and drop, manually checking in documents, or synchronizing with the Groupware, the system searches for duplicates that are then presented for selection.

Info

Admin: In addition to this interactive duplicate search, the administrator can of course manually search for duplicates via the administration menu.

Merging documents

The Merge duplicates function is available in the document master form which is only visible to document administrators. The function searches for other documents with the same checksum and displays them in a list. You can use the checkboxes in the list to select the duplicates that you want to merge using the standard merge function.
