In the document management area, documents are always opened in the application they are linked to. If you View them, they are protected, and writable for Editing. You can decide for yourself when a changed version should be checked in, either immediately after closing the document, or later using the Check in function.
Viewing and editing documents
Note: Please note that the documents that are not checked in are saved to a separate area of your system, namely in the “Temp” directory of the client (usually the user-specific Temp directory).
- Open a document record.
- Click on the entry in the Subject to view the document (corresponds to the View document function). The document is opened write-protected in the linked application.
- Click on Edit document in the function bar to open it as a writeable document in the linked application (corresponds to the Check out function).
- Edit the document.
- After closing a document, please state whether you want to check it in again.
- If you do not want to check in it yet, please state whether it should remain in the In treatment status when you save it. If so, no other user can edit it until its status is set to In development again.
