If staff members in remote locations or subsidiaries work with the CRM client and are connected to the central application server via VPN, viewing and checking in documents directly on the central server is not very efficient (on account of the mostly low upstream of DSL connections). For optimizing the performance, a workgroup-file server can be provided as a separate module. It has the following advantages:
- Central administration of all documents on the application server.
- Efficient exchange of documents between the company headquarter and subsidiaries (VPN connection).
- Local intermediate storage of documents.
- Reduction of data transfer between client and application server (only changed documents are transferred between the file server and the application server)
- Automatic adjustment of different document versions between the locations.
