Reinitializing the HTML editor

Note: The following applies only to versions up to and including 8.2. From version 8.3, the HTML editor does not need this any longer.

The HTML editor is an independent tool that attempts to recognize and handle malfunctions independently. This includes automatically rebuilding and reinitializing the editor after a crash.

In case of a crash, the editor tries to restore the state immediately before the crash by reinitializing.

If a crash or reinitialization occurs, you are only informed by a small icon in the editor’s notes field. Usually, one can continue working as usual.

Read-only mode

If the editor crashes and rebuilds more than twice during writing, then the editor is set to read-only mode for safety reasons (the editor background is colored, block screen is shown on interaction), and the state and content immedi­ately before the editor crashed is restored. You now have the option to

  • select all of the current content in the note field and save it to the clipboard,
  • open object links from the editor,
  • cancel the state via the Save/Cancel menu (the content is displayed writable again),
  • store the state via the Save/Cancel menu.

It is recommended to Save and reload (Load) the object (e.g. the task) and continue working as usual.
