Appointments and resource planing for service appointments

Interactive appointment and resource planning in the Planning board for resources supports you with planning service actions.

Note that the graphic planning board allows you to coordinate only appointments that can be planned, i.e., are subject to release.

Info

Admin: The resource planning board can be prepared for the service technician by means of the following variables:

PSA_RSC_PLN_ACT_FLT (GID, $NONE)
Refers to the GID of an adaptable filter that restricts the appointment list of the resource planning board, e.g., to those service appointments in which the logged-in service technician is involved. A suitable filter could be "My plannable appointments".

PSA_RSC_PLN_DIS_RSC_TAB (y, n)
Controls whether the resource list in the lower area of the planning board is hidden or not. Hiding it is useful if service technicians only want to tweak their appointments and don’t need to assign resources.

Requirements

It is required for planning appointments and resources in the service planning table that technical and personnel resources as well as plannable appointments (subject to release) exist. The planning board lets you coordinate appointments that can be planned.

Appointments subject to release are those that cannot be realized without being released. They were marked as such by the administrator in the appointment type (subtype) using the To be released flag that controls whether the appointment can take the In planning, Resources assigned or Released release level.

Service actions are always handled as appointments that are subject to release. They are usually released only after the required resources have been assigned to them by the planning personnel. Only then, the field service is able to see these operation appointments.

Note: Next to the technical resources (spare parts, vehicles, tools etc.), service actions always require personnel resources (resource type = person). For this reason, the planning table for appointment and resource planning always requires you to create personnel resources.

You can create a personnel resource in the resource management by assigning an internal staff member to a resource.
