Exploding groups

Contacts in marketing actions can be assigned directly as a person contact or (indirectly) via the company assignment. However, communication usually takes place between real people working in the external companies or teams. To find the contact person for a marketing action in the company or team, you can explode the corresponding group. Using the function Explode group, the respective structure of con­tacts is disassebled, and all staff members registered in the contact-master data record are displayed. Among these, you can pick your contacts and delete the assignments that are irrele­vant. Only the assignment, not the contact itself, is deleted, of course.

Assigned attendee statuses in groups are copied to the group members when exploding the groups. Activities of members in the Telemarketing context, are thus included in the attendee status query.

After having assigned, for example, companies in the contacts tab using the Select con­tacts function, you can dissolve them into personal contacts.

1. Select a company contact.
2. From the function bar, select Explode group.
3. All personal contacts of the company are now displayed in the list, the company itself is not visible anymore.

You can filter for names using the alphabet buttons and select names, for example, to create a follow-up activity (function Follow up). You can see the company of a personal contact in the Companies field. This lets you determine the personal contacts of the "exploded" company.
